REPerformance App

Overview

Back in 2017 Callen McGibbon CEO of REPerformance, approached  Push Interactions to create a sports app designed to bring gym communities closer together. It all started with a simple observation: working out can sometimes feel like a solitary endeavour, even in a bustling gym environment. Callen wanted to change that by fostering a sense of community and friendly competition among gym-goers.

Problem Statement

The concept was to develop an app that not only allowed users to compare their performance through leaderboards but also rewarded them for their dedication. The cherry on top? Enabling users to earn rewards the more they worked out, essentially getting paid to stay fit

Understanding the Challenges

Designing the right thing

Bringing this vision to life wasn't without its hurdles:
Engagement: How do we make the app captivating enough for users to consistently log their workouts and interact with others?
Accuracy: Ensuring that the data reflected on the leaderboards was precise.

| Diving into the Design Process

1. Research and Discovery

User Insights:
We spent time in gyms, chatting with members to understand what would motivate them to use such an app. Many expressed a desire for a platform that not only tracked progress but also introduced a social element to their workouts.
Market Analysis: We explored existing fitness apps to identify gaps and opportunities. While many apps focused on individual progress, few emphasized community engagement and tangible rewards

2. Defining the Core Features:

Leaderboards: A dynamic leaderboard system where users could see how they ranked within their gym community.
Social Interaction: Features that allowed users to connect, share achievements, and even challenge each other.
Reward System: A mechanism where users earned points for workouts, which could be redeemed for various rewards, embodying the "get paid to work out" philosophy.

4. User Testing

We invited a group of gym enthusiasts to test the app, observing their interactions and gathering insights on usability and engagement. Their feedback was invaluable in refining features and enhancing the overall experience.

5. Launch and Community Building:

Upon launch, we collaborated with local gyms to introduce REPerformance to their members, fostering initial adoption.
We encouraged users to invite friends and participate in challenges, gradually building a vibrant community within the app.

Reflecting on the Journey
Looking back, it's gratifying to see how an idea sparked by casual observations evolved into a tool that brought people together, motivated them to push their boundaries, and made fitness a more communal and enjoyable journey.
